Fast-Track Conveyor Splits Prepare Brampton for ‘04–1/2

R.J. Cyr Co.  is a custom steel fabricator – now in our 5th decade of service to industry!

Prominent in DaimlerChrysler’s Brampton Assembly Plant transition to a new vehicle is the joint effort of R.J. Cyr Co.  and Axiem (formerly PW Associates and CKGP & Associates, Beverly Hills, Michigan.)

During a two-week shutdown, two existing conveyor lines that are the heart of the LH paint shop were split and expanded into four.  The twin-strand, flat-top CC5 chain conveyors have independent skids and run at 26 ft./minute.

As part of the project, Cyr also engineered new drive/returns for each, and built and installed transfer tables between them.

Body Skids: The Shape of Things to Come for Brampton

Prototypes have been delivered on two types of specialty skid designs: one (the first of 900) to move car bodies through the paint process, the other (first of 100) for e-coat and phosphate.  The new generation skid is the result of more than eight months of “finessing” to suit the 2004 Pacifica LX design.  The skids have special locking devices for dip processes, and drive pins that resist the build-up of electrocoat.
