Hinged Steel Belt Conveyors: Proven Effective AutomationHinged steel belt conveyors engineered and manufactured by R.J. Cyr Co. have proven to be productivity boosters for several parts manufacturers. General Motors, Honda, AG Simpson, Formet, Veltri, Vehma, Cosma, T.K.A Fabco and others have all automated processes with R.J. Cyr Co. “steel belts.” “These are not new,” says R.J. Cyr Co.’s Bill Fox, “but an update of an idea that’s been used successfully for many years. They’re custom-engineered, and very cost-competitive. Most often, they’re used to remove scrap from stamping presses. Some plants operate numerous steel belts to carry scrap to a collection and distribution site where it’s retrieved by the metal recyclers. It’s very efficient – and a great alternative to fork trucks! “A.G. Simpson now has 10, Honda has 10 and General Motors has 14 hinged belts we originally manufactured for them as far back as 1988,” he adds. R.J. Cyr Co. hinged steel belt conveyors can be found throughout the province of Ontario as well as Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky and Mexico.
